For over three decades, my world ran on algorithms, cloud architectures, product roadmaps, and go-to-market strategies. From the wild frontier of launching MapQuest in the mid-90s to guiding multi-million dollar cloud transformations at Google, my career was built in the digital fast lane. I loved the momentum, the problem-solving, and the sheer scale of what we built.

But if you look closely at a 30-year career in technology, you realize something fundamental: technology is just the delivery vehicle. The real power has always been the story.

Whether I was translating complex systems for executive teams, mentoring emerging startups, or spending 11 years in the classroom teaching graduate students at Columbia University, my true work was always storytelling—helping people find clarity, human connection, and purpose amidst the noise.

The Power of the Intentional Pause

When I stepped away from the corporate tech world, I knew I didn’t just want to jump into the next obvious thing. I wanted to build something deeply intentional.

So, I took a year-long sabbatical.

Taking a pause after three decades of continuous momentum is a rare and humbling gift. I gave myself the space to step back, quiet the digital chatter, and ask a simple question: What parts of my work have given me the most joy, and how do I bring them to the forefront?

During that year of quiet recalibration, the answer became unmistakably clear. I kept coming back to two timeless, analog crafts: the written word and the human voice.

Shifting from Digital to Analog

That intentional pause led me to enroll in the Creative Nonfiction writing program at the University of Denver, where I’ve been honing the craft of essay and memoir writing—capturing raw stories of resilience, transformation, and lived experience. Simultaneously, I stepped behind the microphone, combining decades of public speaking, teaching, guest lecturing, and voiceover work into professional audiobook narration and voice performance.

It’s what I call my pivot from Digital to Analog.

For years, I helped build digital tools that connected millions of people. Today, I am using the most personal, original tools we have—prose and spoken voice—to foster those same deep connections.
